What is the FDL Membership Program?
The Firedoglake Membership Program is our community’s initiative to provide a sustainable, predictable source of revenue to give us the security we need to plan our future. You can become an annual recurring member to give us the financial stability we need to continue to make Firedoglake great.
What are the benefits of becoming a member?
We offer three levels at which you can become an annual member of Firedoglake. Every member receives a personalized membership card, discounts at progressive vendors, access to exclusive FDL chats and planning sessions, and more. Our “Benefactor” and “Gosprey Circle” members also receive benefits that can include t-shirts, tote bags, and access to an annual dinner. Learn more about our membership benefits.
How long will it take to receive my member reward(s)?
Your rewards for membership will arrive within 6-8 weeks of joining the program. If after 4 weeks you have not received an item you are supposed to be rewarded, please contact the membership program by email, members@firedoglake.com.
How long does my membership last?
Your membership will last one year and will automatically renew 12-months from the date you joined at the same price.
Can I Make Monthly Contributions Instead?
While we are working to build monthly contributions into our system, you can become a member of Firedoglake on a monthly basis at our “Benefactor” and “Gosprey Circle” levels. If you choose to make a monthly contribution but later want to cancel before the full year is paid, please note that you must make a minimum of six (6) monthly payments to cover the costs of your membership. Click herefor our monthly options: $10/month for our “Benefactor” program or $83/month for our “Gosprey Circle” program.
What is the difference between a MyFDL account and becoming a member?
By registering an account on MyFDL – our diary site and community at Firedoglake – you invest in FDL by contributing the amazing diary posts and insightful comments that keep the site popular, informative and fun. By becoming a member, you invest in our future by weighing in during planning sessions and making annual financial contributions.
Where can I submit suggestions to the membership program?
We want to know your thoughts on membership! Please submit any suggestions for the membership program by email, members@firedoglake.com. Or, you can contact your membership coordinator, who will be in contact with you after you have joined.

Who is Gosprey?
John Phillips Britton, who was known through FDL as ‘Gosprey,’ passed away a year ago. It was his suggestion to have a membership circle, and thus why we have decided to name it after him. What does FDL planning mean?
FDL planning is part of the benefits you receive as a member. At FDL, we are constantly changing things to better deliver information to our audience. As a member, you would get to take part in surveys, votes, and contests to help decide what we will do next.
How do I update my contact information?
Please let us know if you have moved, changed your name, phone number, mail or e-mail address, or made any changes to your personal information so that our records are up-to-date. Can I receive a refund for my membership contribution?
Once a membership contribution has been made, that money cannot be refunded. You may cancel your membership so that it will not renew the following year, but all transactions are final and non-refundable. To cancel your membership, please contact member services.
How do I cancel my membership?
If you wish to cancel your recurring membership renewal before you are charged please email members@firedoglake.com and request to STOP RECURRING PAYMENTS. You can cancel a recurring membership up to 10 days before the renewal date.
Can my membership be terminated?
Firedoglake reserves the right to suspend or terminate memberships at their own discretion. If a member’s actions are deemed harmful to the website or the FDL community, that member will be contacted and, if appropriate, terminated.
